4th Annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch
On Sunday, April 7, 2019 The Rotary Club of Guelph South, along with our event sponsors, will recognize and thank 100 dedicated volunteers from the following 10 organizations with brunch at Cutten Fields.
Food4Kids
Food4Kids Waterloo Wellington provides packages of healthy food for kids aged 14 years and under, with limited or no access to food each weekend. Packages of healthy food are prepared by volunteers and delivered to schools each Friday to ensure children have nourishment over the weekend.
The Shoebox Project
For women who have been displaced from their homes and estranged from their families, the holidays can be a particularly challenging time. Often, women feel disconnected from society, forgotten and alone. Reducing the feelings of isolation and loneliness faced by women living in shelters is one of the most important outcomes of The Shoebox Project. A Shoebox gift is a powerful reminder for a woman that she has not been forgotten and that she remains a valued and respected member of her community.
The SEED
The SEED is a community food project of the Guelph Community Health Centre. About 16% of households in Guelph are food insecure (Guelph Wellbeing, 2014). Our goal is to change that by offering programs and services that tackle the root causes of poverty.
ElderDog Guelph Pawd
ElderDog Canada Inc. is a national, registered Charitable Organization dedicated to ageing people, ageing dogs, and the important connection they enjoy. ElderDog assists and supports older adults in the care and well-being of their canine companions, and promotes the welfare of older dogs whose lives have been disrupted due to illness, relocation or death of a human companion.
Community of Hearts
Founded in 2012, Community of Hearts is a not-for-profit in Guelph supporting adults with developmental exceptionalities to achieve success in curriculum-based quality programming, build self confidence and become more engaged in our community as they grow and learn. Program content teaches three pillars of Self-Awareness, Self-Management & Self-Advocacy/Expression to ensure participants achieve the level of independence they desire.
The Parish Nurse Program
Health is made up of body, mind and spirit and today’s healthcare providers have little time to help people with all three realms. Parish Nurses have made a decision to assist people in all areas to the best of their ability and support, guide and walk along with people on their journey. Every congregation has different needs and the role of a Parish Nurse is tailored to meet the needs and wants of the congregation.
My Kitty Cafe
The first of its kind in Ontario, My Kitty Cafe in Downtown Guelph offers animal interaction and companionship. The cafe operations fund the medical costs associated with cat rescue and adoption through Purrfect Companions of Norfolk, a registered charity operated by volunteers dedicated to cat rescue and adoption.
Royal City Quilter’s Guild
Guild Members assist in the creation of beautiful COMFORT Quilts which are utilized by the staff of the Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Unit (at the Guelph General Hospital) to help begin the healing process of Wellington County’s victims of sex crimes: young and old; male and female. The Guelph General Hospital’s Birthing Unit is also a Community Outreach Partner. Tiny MEMORY QUILTS are lovingly made by our volunteer members and are provided to grieving parents experiencing the pain of their child’s pre-mature passing.
Focus on Nature
Focus on Nature is a registered charity based in Guelph Ontario that inspires young people to explore and connect with nature through photography. We conduct workshops in schools and day camps in the summer and during March Break
